Total Station

  • The total station in surveying is an integrated surveying instrument.
  • It combines an electronic theodolite, an electronic distance measurement (EDM) device, a microprocessor, and an electronic data collector.
  • In other words, the total station is an electronic or optical instrument used to measure horizontal & vertical angles, sloping distance, and elevations.
  • The total station can then output accurate measurements of the coordinates of a point.
  • Surveyors commonly use it in construction and land surveying projects.
  • By using a total station, you can collect data for creating detailed plans, and 3D models.
